The Bengaluru-based startup closed the pre-seed round led by Nikhil Vora (Founder and CEO, Sixth Sense Ventures), Sachin Bhartiya (Founder, Lighthouse Funds), Dale Vaz (CTO of Swiggy), and StrongHer Ventures, to name a few.

In the seed funding round, Meolaa raked in $2 million, led by Turbostart. The company intends to use these funds to prepare their staff for the next phase of growth.

It is credible to note that, with the funding of startups still hovering in a languid phase when most venture capitalists are bidding their time, raising sufficient funds highlights ample investor interest in this early stage startup.

The Founder: Meolaa E-Commerce App

This digitally native, environment friendly, sustainable products e-commerce platform is founded by the young and zestful Ishita Sawant. 23-year-old Ishita Sawant completed her Bachelor of Science in International Business (Marketing) from Northeastern University, Boston and went on to establish Meolaa in the early days of 2022.

Gen Z consumers value personalised products and are often drawn to brands that share their credo. However, there’s a dearth of such a dedicated platform for these new-age shoppers. It is this realisation that birthed Meolaa, with an intent to create a niche in the e-commerce landscape.

Meolaa, offers a one-stop-solution to tide over the gap between sustainability and lifestyle. The startup claims to partner with 1,500 brands having 1,25,000 products across six categories, and a sensitive user base of over 3 lakhs. Their environmental-friendly goods not only targets Gen Z customers, but everyone is who carbon-sensitive.

At present, the startup has a database of over 4,000 direct-to-customer (D2C) brands, of which it has onboarded around 250 brands spanning segments: relaxed fits, athleisure, loungewear, face yoga, massages, etc.
