Uber Technologies Inc. has announced the debut of three new offers for its Uber Eats services that would charge restaurants lower fees than the firm has previously charged.

For the first time, restaurants that pay a 2.9% commission can accept orders directly from their websites or social media accounts and have them completed by delivery personnel working on the Uber Eats platform.

On Uber Eats, the second option allows diners to browse, order, and pay for food that they will consume at a restaurant, with the restaurant receiving a three-percent commission.

And then, in the final offering, a pricing system for delivery is introduced, with commissions beginning at 20%.

Restaurants benefit from the lowest tier of the pricing structure, which assists them in processing and fulfilling orders but charges customers normal delivery fees. Higher tiers reduce the rates diners pay and increase the visibility of restaurants on the Uber Eats mobile app.

Since its inception, Uber has been receiving complaints from restaurants that its 30 per cent fee for deliveries is too exorbitant, and some were still upset when the firm temporarily dropped its commission to 15 per cent for restaurants utilizing their own delivery workers during COVID-19’s peak pandemic.

Uber Eats New Pricing Structure for Restaurants

Uber Eats provides a variety of plans to assist businesses in reaching new consumers and increasing their sales using the Uber Eats app. Choose from three different packages: Premium, Plus, and Lite. All plans include delivery and pickup, order management and tracking, as well as customer service and assistance.

Lite Plan

The most affordable option for restaurants trying to target clients who are already familiar with them.

  • Delivery orders are subject to a 15% surcharge.
  • Pickup is subject to a 6% fee.

Customers who search for the particular restaurant by name will be able to find them in the app, but they will not be accessible to anybody else.

Plus Plan

The mid-priced plan is designed to assist businesses in being discovered by new clients.

  • Orders for delivery are subject to a 25% charge.
  • Pickup is subject to a 6% fee.

The Uber Eats app will include the business name and logo (if applicable) on the home screen as well as in search results, according to the company.

Premium Plan

Businesses who wish to stand out and attract more new clients would benefit the most from this option.

  • Orders for delivery are subject to a 30% charge.
  • Pickup is subject to a 6% fee.

The business will appear higher on the home screen and search results of the Uber Eats app as a consequence of this promotion.

If the restaurants do not receive at least 25 orders in a day, they will not be charged any fees.

If the businesses spend $100 or more on Uber advertising each month, Uber will match the expenditures up to a maximum of $100.

Other offerings from Uber Eats

Uber Eats and its parent company, Uber, worked together last year to offer a function that allows customers to combine several orders.

The bundling option is one of a slew of new product announcements made by the ride-hailing behemoth on Wednesday morning, including the expansion of its Uber Delivery subsidiary.

Another set of new services includes the ability to book a ride and an immunization appointment at Walgreens through the Uber app, car rental valet services, the ability to pre-order food from Uber Eats before a restaurant opens, and the ability to schedule food and grocery orders while on the road in your Uber ride.

This is the result of a year-long shift in which Uber innovated on – and relied on – its delivery technology to supply meals, groceries, and convenience store goods to consumers during a wave of lockdowns that swept the United States.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a video presentation that the new features revealed on Wednesday are intended to suit consumers’ shifting requirements in a post-pandemic world.

According to Khosrowshahi, “the technologies and products that we’re announcing will make it easier and faster than ever before for you to get where you want and get what you need,” he said. The company says it is “reimagining how the world operates” as it returns to “a better normal,” rather than just the old one.

As a result of the new “add-on” bundling function, Uber’s delivery business will gain greater exposure to clients and will have more options for diversification in the congested on-demand delivery market.

It will initially be limited to ordering things from nearby convenience stores such as 7-Eleven, Wawa, Sainsbury’s, Watsons, Rexall Drugstores, and Shell. The service will be available on the Uber Eats mobile app in the coming months. According to the website, bundling allows users to have two orders delivered simultaneously by the same courier without having to pay a separate delivery fee or wait for the orders to be delivered.
